Welcome to the stables!
The safety and welfare of our horses, customers, visitors and staff is our priority.
Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the following Stable Rules.
All customers and visitors are expected to follow these rules and the instructions of ADEC staff at all times.
1. Children & Supervision
Children must be appropriately supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible adult while in the stable areas, unless they are participating in an organised activity under the supervision of an ADEC instructor or member of staff.
2. Access to Horses & Stable Areas
Customers and visitors must not enter horse stables, tack rooms, paddocks, turnout areas or other restricted equestrian areas without permission from ADEC staff. Members of the public must not enter an occupied horse stable unsupervised.
3. Feeding Horses
Do not feed any horse without prior permission from an authorised member of ADEC staff.
Each horse follows an individual feeding and management programme. Unauthorised treats, feed or supplements may affect the horse's health, diet or behaviour.
4. Safety Around Horses
Always approach and handle horses calmly and carefully. Running, shouting, sudden movements or unnecessary loud noises are not permitted in or around the stables and arenas. Horses can react unexpectedly to sudden movement, noise or unfamiliar objects.
5. Riding & Protective Equipment
All riders must wear a correctly fitted and securely fastened riding helmet meeting ADEC's current approved safety standards whenever mounted. Riders must wear suitable riding footwear with an appropriate heel. Trainers, sandals and other unsuitable footwear must not be worn for riding. Body protectors and other protective equipment must be worn where required by ADEC, the activity being undertaken, or the applicable competition/training rules.
6. Handling Horses
Customers handling horses must wear safe, appropriate footwear and any additional protective equipment required by ADEC staff for the activity concerned. Horses must not be handled, exercised, lunged, ridden or moved without appropriate permission.
7. Hacking & Riding Outside Designated Arenas
Permission from an ADEC instructor or Equestrian Management must be obtained before riding outside the designated arena areas. Riders must not hack alone unless specifically authorised by ADEC. When hacking, riders should carry a mobile phone and follow any additional safety instructions provided by ADEC. Riders must be accompanied by an instructor or Groom when moving between the stables and the arena.
8. Dogs
Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times within equestrian areas. Any dog that is barking, excited, aggressive or causing a disturbance must immediately be removed from the stable or arena area. Dog should not be brought inside the stables unless otherwise approved by ADEC management.
9. Stable Aisles & Walkways
Stable aisles, entrances, emergency routes, wash bays, walkways and common areas must be kept clear and free from clutter at all times. Tack, grooming equipment, trunks, feed, rugs and other equipment must not be left where they could create a trip, fire or obstruction hazard.
10. Tack & Equipment
All tack and equipment must be stored safely in the designated areas after use. Saddles, bridles and other equipment must not be left on the ground or in stable aisles. A horse must never be left unattended while fully tacked up unless specifically authorised and safely managed.
11. Vehicles, Bicycles & Electric Scooters
Vehicles must only be driven and parked in designated areas and must comply with Club speed limits and traffic instructions. Public transport such as electric scooters, bicycles and similar devices must not be ridden through stable aisles, horse walkways or other restricted equestrian areas.
12. Smoking & Fire Safety
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in all stables, barns, tack rooms, feed rooms, arenas and other equestrian areas. Smoking is permitted only in designated smoking areas. Open flames and unauthorised electrical or heating devices are strictly prohibited in stable areas.
13. Accidents, Injuries & Hazards
Any accident, injury or near miss involving a person or horse must be reported to ADEC staff immediately.
Damaged, unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, fencing, fixtures or facilities must also be reported immediately and must not be used until declared safe.
14. Emergency Access
Emergency exits, fire extinguishers, fire equipment, access routes and emergency vehicle routes must remain unobstructed at all times. In an emergency, customers and visitors must follow the instructions of ADEC staff and emergency personnel immediately.
15. Personal Belongings & Equipment
Customers are responsible for appropriately securing and insuring their own personal belongings, tack, equipment and other property brought onto Club premises. Valuable items should not be left unattended.
16. Vehicles, Horseboxes & Trailers
Vehicles, horseboxes and trailers must only be parked in authorised areas, and with prior approval from ADEC management. Owners are responsible for appropriately securing their vehicles, horseboxes, trailers and their contents while on Club premises.
17. Personal Accident Insurance
ADEC strongly recommends that riders and horse owners maintain appropriate personal accident and equestrian insurance suitable for their activities.
18. Instructions from ADEC Staff
For the safety and welfare of everyone at the Club, all customers and visitors must follow instructions given by ADEC Equestrian staff. ADEC reserves the right to restrict or refuse participation in any activity where a person, horse, equipment or behaviour presents a safety or welfare concern.
19. Club Policies
These Stable Rules should be read together with all applicable ADEC agreements, Terms & Conditions, policies and safety procedures.
