Barn Rules
No smoking in or around the barn.
No illegal drugs allowed on the property. Ever.
NO RUNNING OR LOUD NOISES IN OR AROUND THE BARN
We prefer that you leave your dogs at home for safety reasons; if you do have your dog with you anywhere on the premises, the dog must be securely fastened to a leash which is securely fastened to you. Loose dogs, no matter how well trained, are a hazard around horses.
Don’t leave trash – water bottles and those infamous candy wrappers or popsicle wrappers– around the barn, arena, or parking areas. Candy wrappers are particularly dangerous for our horses. *Trash cans are located near the tack room.
You may use the bathroom located next to the round pen.
If you break it, you fix it or replace it. Notify staff of broken items!
If you’re not sure: ASK!
Riding school tack and equipment are kept in designated areas. Please don’t use anyone else’s stuff. *Put everything back EXACTLY where you found it. Tack, grooming bags, saddles, bridles, wheelbarrows, manure forks, etc.
If you bring your own stuff to the barn, label it.
Clean up the cross ties and barn aisle when you are done. This includes poop, hair and any items that do not belong out.
Keep the tack /feed room door closed to prevent critters from entering the building.
All students under 18 MUST ride with an ASTM-SEI approved helmet – no exceptions! Smart riders wear barn-safe boots or sturdy shoes that cover the toes, no really loose clothing, no dangling jewelry (except small earrings), long hair tied back securely, riding gloves when it’s cold, and plenty of sunscreen when it’s hot.
Check that girth or cinch! In fact, do a safety check of all your tack before you step up into the saddle.
Keep your tack clean and in good repair. If you lease tack you are responsible for care and damages!
For your own protection, please don’t ride alone. Make sure that someone else will be on the premises.
All students and guests must sign an equine liability release form before they may ride on the premises. No release, no ride. You are liable for your guests' behavior and safety. If they don't know how to behave safely around horses, it's your responsibility to educate them so that everyone stays safe. Check to make sure your guests are wearing barn safe footwear. If not, please keep them out of the barn and paddocks when the horses are present, or else accept responsibility for their smashed toes and exorbitant doctor’s bills.
Young children must remain under adult supervision at all times. Keep their little feet away from big horse feet. Teach them to approach a horse safely, to have a healthy respect for the hind end, and to never startle a horse with sudden movements or loud noises.
Please do not feed horses anything without permission from staff or horse owners.
Do not enter a stall or pasture without permission for your safety!
All property gates must remain closed at all times unless barn staff has instructed otherwise.
